FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The city's newest road project has been honored by a national construction group. 

The Maplecrest Road extension, completed in 2012, spans about 1.5 miles to Adams Center Road near New Haven.

The American Concrete Pavement Association awarded the Excellence in Concrete Pavements” award to the city.

The award focuses on high-quality workmanship, overcoming challenges, innovation and traffic management.

The 4-lane expansion cost more than $30 million, well under the $52 million estimate.
