Mayor’s Legacy Request Heads to City Council

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Mayor Tom Henry's request for Legacy Funds for Riverfront Development will introduced to Fort Wayne City Council tonight.

But, they won't take any action on it for a couple weeks. The Mayor wants the council to grant $6 million dollars from Legacy funds for the project. The next step is to study the riverbanks and determine what comes next.

The Mayor hopes to leverage up to $12 millions to get the project going.

That money would include acquiring property along the downtown rivers. Council's got the night off next Tuesday – that's election night – they'll revisit the request May 12 with a full discussion of the resolution.
