McKinnie Avenue homicide victim identified

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the southeast Fort Wayne shooting victim from Wednesday morning.

The victim has been identified as Edword Kiel of Fort Wayne. The 28-year-old man’s death has been ruled his death a homicide via gunshot wounds.

The Fort Wayne Police Department said they were called to the 3400 block of McKinnie Avenue at about 1:35 a.m. When they arrived, they found Kiel sitting in the driver’s seat of a car, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman who was inside the vehicle with Kiel at the time of the shooting said someone walked up to the vehicle and opened fire, hitting Kiel a few times. Kiel tried to drive away but crashed into a tree. The shooter fled the scene.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Kiel’s the 19th homicide victim in Allen County this year.
