Meijer Expanding: Creating 1,500 Jobs

Six new super centers and five remodel projects will be completed this year, in turn creating 1,500 new jobs in Michigan, Illinois and Indiana.

According to our partner’s in news at 21 Alive, none of the Indiana stores are included in the remodel projects, but the $160 million investment includes 2 new Indiana super centers, one in Portage and the other in Warsaw.

Each new store that opens provides at least 250 full- and part-time jobs.

Co-Chairman and Co-CEO Hank Meijer says, “We are pleased to continue to invest in the Midwest communities that have supported us for so long,” Hank Meijer said. “By keeping prices low and maintaining our focus on customer service, we have been able to continue to grow during a tough economic cycle.”
