Monticello Man Charged with Murder of Mother and Sister

MONTICELLO, Ind. (AP) _ A 20-year-old northern Indiana man accused of fatally stabbing his mother and his 6-year-old half-sister in their home has been charged with two counts of murder.

The Journal & Courier reports that David Scott Rodenbarger was formally charged Tuesday.

A probable cause affidavit says 41-year-old Michelle Haskins died from a stab wound to her neck. Six-year-old Jillian Haskins died from multiple stab wounds and swelling to her brain caused by blunt force trauma.

The affidavit does not specify a motive.

The mother and daughter were found in their Monticello home early Saturday after the mother called 911. The affidavit says a two-pronged meat fork and knife covered with what appeared to be blood were found near the victims.

A White County judge appointed a public defender to represent Rodenbarger.
