Naked Gunman Pleads Guilty in South Bend Shooting Deaths

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ A South Bend man has pleaded guilty to shooting to death two neighboring tenants of an apartment building.

The South Bend Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1GIC4CT) Roy Lee Walker entered the plea Thursday before St. Joseph Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Hurley.

The 49-year-old Walker was accused of shooting to death 46-year-old Robert J. Duke and 42-year-old Michelle L. Blankenship on Jan. 4. Walker committed the murders as he walked around the building naked. Authorities have not said what motivated the shootings.

In the plea agreement, prosecutors agreed to drop one count of attempted murder and one count of breaking and entering. Under the agreement, Walker would serve no more than 45 years in prison for each murder, though Hurley could sentence him to consecutive terms.

Hurley scheduled Walker's sentencing for Aug. 21.
