Nappanee Woman Charged After Child Goes Missing

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO):  A Nappanee woman is being charged with neglect of a dependent, a level 6 felony, following multiple incidents from October 7 through April 5.

On Jan. 18, 22 year old Casey Nicole Thornton called the NPD and said her child was missing.

She told police she had fallen asleep and when she woke, her child was gone. The child was found a half mile from his home, wearing pajama pants, a long sleeve shirt, shoes and no socks and was shaking due to cold weather.

During the most recent incident on April 5, Thornton reported her child missing again. Her child was located approximately 10 minute later at a neighbor’s residence.

Thornton is being held in the Kosciusko County jail on a $10,000 bond.
