Northern Indiana VA Director Leaving Post This Month

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The director of the Northern Indiana VA is leaving this month for a new challenge.

Denise Deitzen is leaving Fort Wayne to go to Chicago to head the VA's health care network that is based there. In her new post, she'll oversee eight medical centers, 30 clinics, and 5 nursing homes in the Midwest. 

The Journal-Gazette says she is starting her new job on October 19th. An acting director for Northern Indiana will be appointed this week until a permanent leader is found. 

The Northern Indiana VA system covers 40,000 veterans and employs 1,500 people at medical centers in Fort Wayne and Marion as well as clinics at Goshen, South Bend, Peru, and Muncie.
