Obama to fly into Gary Wednesday for Chicago visit

GARY, Ind. (AP): A weekend arson fire at an Chicago airport radar center has President Barak Obama using a northwest Indiana airport.

Obama will arrive aboard Air Force One at Gary/Chicago International Airport on Wednesday for the first time in office.

Military transport planes began landing Tuesday morning, and the Federal Aviation Administration has restricting airspace around the Gary airport for one hour Wednesday and one hour Thursday.

Obama is landing in Gary because air traffic at O'Hare International Airport where the president usually lands is still not back to normal after an arson fire at suburban Chicago radar center last week disrupted air travel into O'Hare.

The White House said Tuesday that Obama would travel to Chicago to speak at Northwestern University and stump for Democratic Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn. It says he'll travel to southwestern Indiana on Friday.
