Off-road crash in Noble County leaves one Critical and two awaiting charges

NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a serious off-road vehicle crash that happened around 7:25 p.m. Monday.

Craig A. Berning, 28, was riding an off-road vehicle eastbound on Waits Road near County Road 1200 East at high speed when he lost control and fell sideways, striking the road with his head.

Zachary Sturgis, 29, was also riding an off-road vehicle eastbound on Waits Road, and attempted to place Berning on his vehicle.

Berning was unconscious and fell off the vehicle, striking the road again.

He was then transported by Parkview EMS to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne and listed in Critical Condition around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Both men were found to be in possession of stolen property and charges are pending.
