Officer, Another Man Make Rescue from House Fire

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP): A central Indiana police officer and another man are being credited with rescuing a man from a burning house.

The Columbus Fire Department says city police Officer John Searle spotted the fire while on patrol Wednesday night. Searle reported the fire and then tried to locate any occupants of the house.

The Republic reports an acquaintance of the home's resident also helped as Searle pounded on a window to alert anyone inside. The officer and Brad Eubanks saw a man inside the house raise his arms and they pulled Edward Brune out through a window.

The Fire Department says Brune was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with burn injuries. Eubanks also suffered minor injuries.
