Officer on Leave After Police Dog Video Surfaces

HAMMOND, Ind. (AP): A northwestern Indiana police officer has been placed on administrative leave after a video surfaced that allegedly shows him hitting a police dog and lifting it up by its collar. The Times of Munster reports the video has spread on social media since it was posted Wednesday on YouTube. The footage shows the officer lifting the police dog off the ground by its collar and hitting it with a leash.
