FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): One person was injured in a house fire that happened early this morning on Fort Wayne’s south side.

According to a release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department, crews were called to a home on Gaywood drive a block or so southwest of Abbett Elementary School at 1:42am to find a house full of smoke and flame. They were able to find a person inside and get them out and sent to the hospital.

The home suffered heavy fire and smoke damage. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.
