Organizers Cancel Indianapolis Air Show for Good

MOUNT COMFORT, Ind. (AP) _ A popular air show that was canceled this year due to federal budget cuts has been grounded for good.

The Indianapolis Air Show's executive committee has posted an announcement on its website saying it appreciates the support the show has received over the years but that it will not produce future shows.

The air show has run for 16 years and is one of central Indiana's most popular attractions. Hundreds of volunteers turned out for the event at the Indianapolis Regional Airport, and more than 80,000 visitors attended the 2012 event.

Proceeds from the show have benefited local philanthropic organizations.
