FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – A doctor whose medical license was suspended last month by a state panel amid allegations of over-prescribed pain medications has closed his pain clinics in nine northeastern Indiana cities.

The Journal Gazette reports that Hedrick Indiana Pain Centers formally announced in a legal ad published Friday that Dr. William Hedrick had discontinued his practice at all locations effective November 21st.

The Indiana Medical Licensing Board ordered a 90-day license suspension last month for Hedrick, the president and founder of the pain clinics.

That decision came after the state attorney general's office presented evidence that Hedrick improperly prescribed painkillers and falsified medical records.

Hedrick said at the time that if his license were suspended, he would lose his ability to bill Medicare and that his operation would probably go bankrupt.
