FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A big boost for efforts to build a park on Fort Wayne’s riverfront.

The Fort Wayne Park Foundation announced Wednesday they had raised $1-million toward the construction of Promenade Park.

The Journal Gazette reports that’s earned a $500,000 match from the Community Foundation of Fort Wayne. That particular amount will go toward building the Compass Pavilion, which will host arts and culture events and programs.

Promenade Park is set to be the focal point of Phase One of Riverfront Development, which should start construction later this summer.
