Passenger Jumps From Vehicle, Fatally Hit By Another

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Fort Wayne Police are investigating a person fatally struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of North Clinton and Grove streets around 3:17 a.m. An adult victim, lying on North Clinton Street, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Witnesses stated a Jeep was southbound on North Clinton, when the driver of the Jeep and the front seat passenger were involved in an argument. The passenger got out of the moving vehicle and landed on North Clinton Street. A driver in an Impala was a short distance behind the Jeep and struck the victim. They immediately stopped and remained on the scene.

Police say alcohol is not a factor in this crash, pertaining to the driver of the Impala.

The incident remains under investigation. The name of the victim has not been released.
