Pence Names Longtime Aide Lloyd to be Communications Chief

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Governor Mike Pence has named longtime aide Matt Lloyd to be his deputy chief of staff for communications and strategy beginning next month.

Lloyd served as communications director on Pence's congressional staff for 10 years and as a senior adviser to Pence's gubernatorial campaign. He currently serves as director of communications for Koch Industries in its Washington, D.C., office. The company is led by billionaire brothers and conservative donors Charles and David Koch.

Pence says Lloyd “is a person of character whose judgment I value greatly.''

Pence's current communications director, Christy Denault, turned in her resignation last week. She has 6-year-old triplets and an 8-year-old and said it was time to devote more energy to her family. Pence's office has said she will remain on staff until May 22.
