Pence praises Trump, slams Clinton during acceptance speech

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOWO): Indiana Governor Mike Pence made it official last night, accepting the Republican nomination for Vice President at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Pence’s speech alternated between praise for running mate Donald Trump and jabs at Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

“People in both parties are restless for change, ready to break free from old patterns in Washington, and Democrats are about to anoint someone who represents everything this country is tired of,” Pence said of Clinton.

“If you want a President who will cut taxes, grow our economy, and squeeze every nickel out of the federal bureaucracy, we have but one choice,” he said of Trump.

Pence pointed to his record as governor, boasting about Indiana’s balanced budget, tax cuts and job growth.

Trump will speak at the convention tonight; we’ll have live coverage beginning at 7pm.
