LEESBURG, Ind. (WOWO): The body of a Chicago man has been recovered from Lake Tippecanoe, almost two weeks after he disappeared while swimming there.

Kosciusko County divers recovered the body of 70-year-old John Forbes shortly after 9pm yesterday, about 70 feet below the surface.

The Sheriff’s Office used an “underwater remotely operated vehicle” to find Forbes, whose body was in “close proximity” to where he was last seen on July 8th while swimming with his wife, son and a family friend near a home in Leesburg.

His body has been transported to the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center for a formal autopsy.
