INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana Gov. Mike Pence says his wife is at home and resting a day after undergoing surgery to remove her gallbladder.

Pence said Friday that he believes first lady Karen Pence is on her way to a quick recovery.

The 56-year-old Pence had the outpatient operation Thursday after experiencing abdominal pain the day before and going to an emergency room.

The governor says he and his wife are grateful for all the prayers and concern many people have expressed for her.

The Pences have been married since 1985 and have three grown children.
