Police Arrest 1 of 2 Suspects in Shooting of Muncie Boy

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Muncie police say they've arrested one of two suspects in the shooting of a 7-year-old boy earlier this month.

Chief Steve Stewart says a 16-year-old was arrested Tuesday night after he was found in a car parked outside an apartment complex. The other suspect, a 19-year-old man, was not in custody as of Tuesday night. Police had identified the two as suspects Monday.

According to police, the 7-year-old was shot in the right hand and abdomen while he was playing in a yard on May 6. The (Muncie) Star Press (http://tspne.ws/1IxhFHi ) reports the boy is still being treated at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Investigators think a 17-year-old who was also struck in the shooting was the intended target. His wound wasn't life threatening.
