ORANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a fatal ATV accident that happened on private property near Paoli Monday night. 16-year-old Bailey Carty of Paoli was pronounced dead by the Orange County Coroner’s Office after being found underneath an overturned ATV that she had been riding in on East County Road 100N.

Carty had been riding her grandmother’s ATV on a remote wooded section of a neighbor’s property for about an hour when she failed to return home. Shortly before 5:00 p.m., her grandmother found her unconscious underneath the overturned ATV.

Despite CPR efforts at the scene, Carty was unable to be resuscitated. She was not wearing a helmet or any safety equipment.
