INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Police say an SUV driver ran a red light to cause a crash that injured a state legislator from northern Indiana and his daughter last week near the Statehouse grounds.
Indianapolis police say a witness told investigators that the 24-year-old woman's vehicle went through a red light at the intersection Thursday night.
Democratic Rep. David Niezgodski of South Bend says he suffered a broken rib and aggravated an old neck injury. Emergency workers needed 15 minutes to free his 23-year-old daughter from the wreckage. She suffered a concussion.
The Indianapolis Star reports no traffic tickets have been issued for the crash.
Niezgodski was first elected to the Legislature in 2006 and returned to legislative work this week.
