Power outage knocks out credit card service on Toll Road

GRANGER, Ind. (AP): Indiana Toll Road officials say credit cards cannot be used to pay tolls at this time because of a power outage caused by a crash in Elkhart County.

Spokeswoman Amber Kettring says the outage knocked out communication shortly before noon Wednesday, so that credit cards can’t be used. She says people with no cash will be billed by attendants manning the tolls. She says work is being done to try to restore service.

She also says that crews will be shutting down traffic in 15-minute intervals at mile marker 73 in South Bend east of the U.S. 31 Bypass exit to grind down some bumps.
