INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Early voting is under way across Indiana in advance of the May 3 primary election giving the state a rare opportunity to influence the hotly contested presidential races.

Indiana voters usually don’t get much of a say when it comes to determining the partisan nominees for president because the state’s primaries come after most states already have voted.

However, as both the Democratic and Republican presidential races grind on, candidates have started building their organizations in the state.

Businessman Donald Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich each have hired Indiana campaign workers. Democratic Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has opened eight offices across the state. And former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has hired staff and opened and Indianapolis office.
