Prison Officials to Outline Plans for Mentally Ill

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): A judge is scheduled to hear Indiana Department of Correction officials explain how they plan to comply with a court order compelling them to improve the treatment of mentally ill prisoners. The federal judge has ordered the department to explain its “precise plan” at a hearing today. The American Civil Liberties Union had argued the state doesn’t seem to be taking the situation seriously.
