Public Funeral Planned Saturday for Slain Indiana U. Student

FISHERS, Ind. (AP): A public funeral will be held Saturday for slain Indiana University student Hannah Wilson at Fishers High School in suburban Indianapolis.

Calling will be held at the high school's auditorium at 4 p.m., followed by the funeral at the same location at 7 p.m.

A Hamilton Southeastern Schools spokeswoman released a statement Tuesday saying its school community “has lost a promising talent and an even greater person.'' Wilson had been a cheerleader at Hamilton Southeastern High School.

Wilson was a senior psychology major at IU and was scheduled to graduate in May.

She was found beaten to death Friday near Lake Lemon in Brown County, about 10 miles northwest of IU's Bloomington campus. 49-year-old Daniel Messel of Bloomington has been charged with murder in the case.
