WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ The Office of the Dean of Students at Purdue University says the school has received nearly 100 reports under a new program aimed at flagging potentially harmful or strange student behavior.
University officials say they hope more students become aware of the online reporting system as the new school year starts. Parents, faculty and the members of the community also are able to file a report.
The (Lafayette) Journal & Courier reports that concerning behaviors range from excessive absences to threats of harm to one's self or others.
After a report is filed, Advocacy and Support Center staff typically inform the student in question of the resources available to them. Staff will meet with the student or contact police if the behavior could become dangerous.
