Raid Leads to Marijuana, Guns and Cash

DeKalb County, INA joint investigation between the Indiana State Police, the Allen County Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) came to a successful end today with the arrest of a Spencerville man and the seizure of cultivated marijuana plants, processed marijuana, guns and tens of thousands of dollars in cash.

In early September, the Allen County Drug Task Force enlisted the assistance of the Indiana State Police Marijuana Eradication Team from the Fort Wayne Post after receiving a tip of marijuana activity in the rural DeKalb County area of Spencerville.

Today at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team raided a residence in the 6700 block of County Road 68.  Curtis D. Wittwer, 65 of Spencerville was arrested on felony cultivating and dealing marijuana charges.  In addition, police recovered eight handguns, three shotguns, three assault style rifles, two lever action rifles and more than $88,000 in U.S. currency from inside the residence.  Wittwer was taken to and incarcerated in the DeKalb County Jail.  This investigation is still ongoing.
