FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It looks like a refund of some sort may be in the works for Fort Wayne residents who have had problems with the city’s trash contractor.

Red River Waste Solutions has been fined more than $250,000 since January for missing thousands of customer pick-ups. After blaming bad weather and new drivers learning new routes, the company and City officials launched a new strategy this past Monday by simplifying trash pick-up routes.

Now Mayor Tom Henry is floating the idea of financial reimbursements for affected citizens, which is something many customers have been calling for on WOWO’s social media channels for months.

Henry says the idea will be looked at by a Working Group later this month. Read his full statement below.
