Rose Parade float to honor Indiana organ donor

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP):  An Indiana boy whose family donated his organs after his death in a 2011 car accident will be honored on a float in the Rose Parade.

A photo of 11-year-old Noah Worthington will be featured on a memorial floragraph portrait.

The Indiana Organ Procurement Organization selects one donor to be honored on the float each year. Kim Charles of the organ donation group says the organization chose Noah as a way to honor the boy and his family.

Parents Wil and Rheena Worthington volunteer with the organization and encourage others to become organ donors.

The float is sponsored by Donate Life. A total of 81 organ, eye and tissue donors from 34 states, Korea and Taiwan will be honored in the Jan. 1 parade.
