SACS Bus Driver Hits Pedestrian with Kids On Board

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A bus driver in Southwest Allen County is facing charges after she hit someone while driving with kids on board.

The bus driver's identity has not been released. According to our partners in news at 21Alive, the driver hit a woman at the intersection of South Barr Street and East Washington Boulevard around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

The driver said she was stopped at a red light on South Barr St. and when the light turned green, she turned left onto East Washington Blvd. Despite the signal to cross the street, a woman “walked into mirror” of the bus and was hit outside of the designated crosswalk.

The woman had no visible injuries and walked into a nearby building. The driver is accused of leaving the scene after the accident happened, and is now facing criminal charges.

There were eight children on the bus when the incident occurred.
