Second Indiana Trooper This Week Injured in Crash

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ An Indiana State Police trooper has been injured in a collision in the second such incident this week.

State police say 53-year-old Master Trooper Aaron Segrest was sitting stationary on the shoulder of Interstate 65 south of Gary with all his emergency lights on investigating a two-vehicle crash when a pickup truck spun out of control across all lanes of the highway and struck Segrest's patrol car.

Police say Segrest was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup, 61-year-old Melldoran Rambo, and his passenger, 62-year-old Kay Rambo, both of Star City, also went to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Another trooper was treated for minor injuries at a hospital Sunday after his vehicle was struck on I-65 south of Indianapolis.
