Shooting on Abbott Street, one man dead

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2700 block of Abbott Street in reference to a shooting around 3 a.m. Friday.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified him as 59-year-old Victor Curry of Fort Wayne.

Preliminary information indicates there was a disturbance at a nearby residence prior to the shooting.

Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and neighborhood residents.

Crime Scene Technicians are still processing the scene and collecting evidence.
