Silver Lake Woman Arrested for Endangering a Child

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A Silver Lake woman, who police say abused drugs while pregnant, has been arrested for endangering a child.


The child was born, unresponsive, at 32 weeks. Investigators say a Child Protective Services caseworker discovered the case when 28 year-old Whitney Kerr of Silver Lake, gave birth, she tested positive for heroin and T.H.C.


According to court documents, Kerr admitted to using heroin and taking another narcotic that she did not have a prescription for. The infant was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.


Kerr is charged with neglecting a child by endangering the child's life or health and is being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
