Smoke House Gunman Sentenced

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The man who shot a Fort Wayne store owner last spring in a botched robbery attempt has been sentenced.

Allen Superior Court Judge John Surbeck issued a 60-year prison term to 23-year-old Jamel Coleman. According to court documents, Coleman went to the Smoke House Outlet on Lafayette Street to rob the store.

During the robbery on April 7, according to court documents, a scuffle occurred between Coleman and the store owner 44-year-old Antonio Lopez Nino. Coleman used Nino's gun to fire the shots that ultimately killed him.

Coleman agreed to a deal in January where he pleaded guilty to murder and robbery and other charges were dropped.
