Snow to Keep Some Trucks off Indiana Toll Road

GRANGER, Ind. (AP) – Indiana Toll Road officials plan to temporarily ban some types of trucks between Valparaiso and South Bend because of expected heavy snow.

Toll Road officials say all triple, long double and high-profile oversize permit loads, as well as low-profile steel haulers, won't be allowed on the highway between exit 30 and exit 72 between 11 p.m. Central time Monday and 11 p.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a lake effect snow watch for northwestern Indiana, saying a band of heavy snow is expected to drop up to a foot of snow between late Monday and midday Tuesday.

It says it will be a narrow band of snow, likely less than 10 miles wide, that will reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less at times.
