South Bend airport adds nonstop flights to Newark

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP): South Bend International Airport is adding nonstop daily service to the New York City area with United Express service to Newark, New Jersey, starting in October.

Airport Executive Director Mike Daigle told the South Bend Tribune the deal had been under negotiations for two years.

The first flight into South Bend is scheduled for Oct. 26 and the first departure from South Bend is set for Oct. 27. Flights will depart South Bend at 6:20 a.m. and arrive in New York at 8:23 a.m. Flights will leave New York at 7 p.m. and arrive in South Bend at 9:13 p.m.

Daigle says the flights will allow people to go to New York for a day of shopping.
