South Bend Man Pleads Guilty after Deadly Freak Accident

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ A South Bend man has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident while driving intoxicated causing serious bodily injury in a freak accident where a minivan passenger was killed when her head hit a telephone pole guy wire while she leaned out the window because she was sick.
 
Twenty-three-year-old Kyle Papa also pleaded guilty Monday to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated resulting in the death of another person, possession of marijuana, driving without a license and possession of marijuana with a prior conviction for possession of marijuana.
 
Twenty-four-year-old Amanda Ezra was killed June 15 when she leaned out the window and her head hit the wire, causing her head to hit the van.
 
Papa faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 23.
