SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – The city of South Bend reached settlements in two lawsuits filed by the city's former police chief and officers who contended their conversations were illegally recorded.
 
South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced Tuesday the resolutions involving former Police Chief Darryl Boykins' lawsuit and a second suit involving Officers Tim Corbett, Steve Richmond, Dave Wells and Brian Young, and Young's wife.
 
The South Bend Tribune reports court documents indicate Boykins will receive $50,000 and his attorneys will get $25,000.
 
Court documents indicate Corbett, Richmond, Wells, the Youngs and their attorneys will receive a combined $500,000.
 
The wiretapping case began in early 2012 when Buttigieg demoted Boykins from the police chief post in light of what he said was a federal investigation into the department's phone recording practices.
