SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP): A judge has sentenced a 17-year-old South Bend youth to 90 years in prison after he was convicted of murder and a criminal gang enhancement in connection with the fatal shooting of a 2-year-old boy.

Tyre Bradbury said he’ll appeal after he was sentenced Monday for providing the handgun that fired the shot that killed John Swoveland Jr. in April 2014 as the toddler played outside several blocks away from a gang fight.

The sentence handed down by St. Joseph Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Hurley is the harshest for any of the people convicted in connection with Swoveland’s death. The triggerman, 21-year-old Robert Griffin, is serving a 60-year prison sentence.

Hurley sentenced Bradbury to the minimum allowable sentence for murder, 45 years, but the criminal gang enhancement doubled that sentence.
