FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It’s a dubious distinction for southeast Fort Wayne, with a new report listing it with the highest infant mortality rate in Indiana.

Specifically, the 46806 Zip Code leads the state, according to a report by 21Alive, who add that black babies are twice as likely than white babies to die before they turn 1 year old.

Experts with Women’s Health Link say pre-term births and a lack of accessible health care are the biggest reasons, and they’re trying to educate women on ways to ensure babies live longer.
