VAN VERT, Ohio (WOWO): The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that happened just after 7 Saturday morning on State Route 49 north of County Road 94.

Officials say an SUV driven by 36-year-old Ismael Cano, of Convoy, was southbound on State Route 49. Cano crossed the center line and then drove off the left side of the roadway striking a utility pole and crashing into a ditch.  The vehicle overturned several times before coming to rest in the field.  

Cano was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and Cano was wearing his seat belt. The crash remains under investigation.
