State Police Investigating Logansport Jail Death

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at a northern Indiana jail.

Fifty-six-year-old Teresa Jayne Hardwick of Logansport was pronounced dead Friday by Cass County Coroner Randy Rozzi at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Cass County Sheriff Randy Pryor said corrections officers in his jail found the woman unresponsive about 1:30 p.m. Friday. He says jail staff performed CPR until an ambulance arrived, the Pharos-Tribune reported.

Harwick had been arrested about 1 a.m. Friday for public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement.

An autopsy was pending.
