State Police Reporting Over 100 Crashes Due to Wintry Mix

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana State Police say freezing rain and sleet contributed to more than 100 crashes across central Indiana, including more than 30 involving injuries.

No life-threatening injuries were reported.

The wintry weather Tuesday morning led to closures of portions of Interstates 65, 70 and 465 in the Indianapolis. WTHI-TV reports a seven-mile stretch of I-70 in western Indiana was closed in both directions for a while. State police reported more than 20 slide-offs and crashes in that area.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for much of central Indiana and a freezing rain advisory for eastern and southeastern counties.
