State Senator Liz Brown Introduces Bus Funding Bill

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): State Senator Liz Brown wants to make sure your Fort Wayne Community Schools student has a ride to school if he or she can't catch the bus.

The Fort Wayne Republican introduced a bill during the first day of the 2016 legislative session Tuesday that would re-purpose property tax revenue from a tax increment financing area and re-purpose those funds for public and school transportation needs.

If the bill passes, FWCS would get $700,000 in funds with no tax increase to give about 7,000 FWCS students living on no transportation zones a bus ride to school.

Brown also is introducing two pro-life bills on the first day of the session.
