Suburban Indianapolis Police Chase Ends with Crash

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): A police chase in suburban Indianapolis ended with an officer losing control of his squad car and running into a house and a tree.

Police say the Greenwood officer pursued a driver into a neighborhood on the far south side of Indianapolis when the crash happened about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. The crash left a hole in the front wall of the house and the cruiser's front end smashed into the tree.

Homeowner Doug Kruse tells WISH-TV the crash woke him up. Kruse says the officer was shook up when he got out of the crashed car and said he lost control on ice.

WRTV and WTHR-TV report the officer was taken to a hospital to be checked out. Police didn't immediately give details on what started the chase.
