MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WOWO): Could the death of a 4-year-old Mercer County boy have been prevented?

That’s the question some are asking now that new details have surfaced, revealing that the man accused of killing him has been investigated for abuse before.

Our partners in news at 21Alive report that 39-year-old Cory Eischen was investigated in August for allegedly throwing a child across a kitchen, then forcing them to eat hot sauce until the child decided to eat his dinner.

The Lima News reports that child was 4-year-old Jaxxen Baker. In that case police reported Baker didn’t seem to be afraid of him, nor did they have any “fresh” injuries, so Eischen wasn’t charged.

Now he’s in custody. The boy died Sunday from blunt force trauma all over his body.
