Suspect Who Died in Police Custody Named

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): We have new details in following the death of a suspect in a drug arrest.

Authorities say the man who died in custody is 33-year-old Lance Royal. But, the coroners office hasn't ruled on a cause of death. During a stop Thursday, Royal is believed to have injected a narcotic.

He later died at a local hospital. In the wake of the investigation, five detectives, Jonathan Bowers, Kurt Franceus, Juan Gutierrez, Shane Heath and Cameron Norris have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
